Do you have a passion for the arts? Want to help recruit students interested in the arts to the UW-Madison? If so, the Division of the Arts (DotA) is the place for you! We look forward to welcoming three new Arts Recruitment & Engagement Program Assistants to the DotA team for the 2018-2019 academic year!

We are looking to hire three talented students that will act as Arts Ambassadors, with an emphasis on promoting the wide array of arts offerings on the UW-Madison campus. You will work directly with the Student Programs Coordinator to provide coverage for a series of Creative Campus Tours. The Creative Campus Tour is open to everyone--prospective, admitted, and incoming students as well as anyone interested in learning more about arts offerings on campus. The walking tour lasts two hours and will be co-led by one tour guide from Campus and Visitor Relations and one DotA Arts Recruitment & Engagement Program Assistant.

Priority for hiring will be given to those that can co-lead Creative Campus Tours during the following dates/ times:

Fall 2018

Saturday, September 1, 2018: 2 tours (11:30am-1:30pm and 2:30-4:30pm)

Thursday, September 6, 2018: 2 tours (3:00-5:00pm)

Saturday, October 13, 2018: 2 tours (11:30am-1:30pm and 2:30-4:30pm)

Friday, October 26, 2018: 2 tours (1:00-3:00pm)

Friday, November 16, 2018: 2 tours (11:30am-1:30pm and 2:30-4:30pm)

In addition to facilitating these campus tours, you will support new and emerging networks for student participation in the arts on campus. This may include promoting and staffing Student Recruitment fairs, arts department auditions, visit and yield days; assisting with the Interdisciplinary Arts Residency Program events, Arts Agôn (A TED Talk meets Pecha Kucha-style presentation with on campus arts researchers), the Wisconsin Film Festival, and other Division of the Arts initiatives. Candidates must be current students at UW–Madison in good academic standing with a passion for the arts and a strong interest in arts administration.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Co-leading Creative Campus Tours
  • Participation in arts recruitment and engagement initiatives
  • Posting/distributing marketing materials in and around campus
  • Special projects as assigned
  • Arts administration work, including office organization, data entry, and program management
  • Participating in monthly Arts Recruitment committee meetings, as available
  • Providing student leadership/input at Division of the Arts meetings/ retreats re: the needs of arts students on campus
  • Other administrative duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Experience with leading or facilitating groups, experience with improvisation techniques a plus.
  • A demonstrated commitment to inclusivity/equity
  • Strong interest in promoting interdisciplinary arts programs and activities
  • A familiarity with the arts on the UW–Madison campus
  • A willingness to work within a project management system
  • Capable of multi-tasking and being flexible in a fast-paced, deadline-driven office environment
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others to accomplish goals
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Programs

Hours & Rate

This position is 8-10 hours per week. We require flexibility to attend and take part in occasional evening events. This position has the potential to extend into the summer and next academic year. The hourly wage will be $13-$15/hr.  Availability to attend full day campus tour trainings August 28th-30th a plus.
