Are you interested in better understanding how people learn? If so, our Learning Sciences lab is recruiting undergraduate research assistants to work on our project.


Position Description:

For this position we are specifically looking for a Psychology/Physics/Biology or Education major or a student with background in any of these areas, with strong interest in working with a large group of faculty, researchers, graduate and undergraduate students on a NSF funded project. We expect the selected students will work on transcribing classroom audio and video data, and help with data organization and scoring. Background in Biology/Physics would be a plus, as we also expect that the selected students will help us organize the classroom materials and test/edit our two middle school science curricula (Physics and Biology). In addition, selected candidates will be expected to help with literature searches and help with organizing bibliography, using the EndNote software.


By working in our lab group, you can gain valuable experience in:
- Working as a part of the team of NSF research grants;

- Gaining experience in doing literature searches and using Endnote

-Helping organize and analyze qualitative and quantitative data;

- Helping test and edit classroom materials for middle school science curriculum;

-Closely collaborating with faculty, researchers, graduate students, and other undergraduates;

-Helping the research team with other organizational and administrative tasks as needed.


*Students can also work for credit on independent research projects.


We are looking for self-motivated and responsible students with an interest in education research. This position would be from Fall 2017 and would have the potential to extend throughout the 2017-2018 academic year and the summer of 2018.  We are looking for a students who can commit to working approximately 10 hours per week.
