Are you interested in better understanding how people learn? If so, our Learning Sciences lab is recruiting undergraduate research assistants to work on our project.

 

For this position, we are specifically looking for a Physics major or a student with a strong physics background who has an interest in working with a large group of professional staff, graduate, and undergraduate students on a NSF research grant in the field of Education. We have created inquiry-based curricula for middle school students to learn about Physics. As part of our project, we routinely collect data from schools and organize professional development workshops for the teachers.

 

 By working in our lab group, you can gain valuable experience in:
- Working as a part of the team of NSF research grants;

- Helping organize and analyze qualitative and quantitative data;

- Transcribing classroom videos;

- Helping test and edit classroom materials for middle school science curriculum;

- Closely collaborating with faculty, researchers, graduate students, and other

   undergraduates;

- Helping the research team with other organizational and administrative tasks as needed.

 

Students can also work for credit on independent research projects.

We are looking for self-motivated and responsible students with an interest in education research. This position would be for summer 2017 and would have the potential to extend throughout the 2017-2018 academic year and the summer of 2018.  We are looking for a students who can commit to working approximately 10 hours per week.
