Are you interested in better understanding how people learn? If so, our Learning Sciences lab is recruiting undergraduate research assistants to work on our project.

 

For this position we are specifically looking for a biology major or a student with a strong background in Biology to help us work on two middle school science curricula. We created inquiry-based curriculum for students to learn about, composting organic matter to learn about soil and ecosystems, and growing Fast Plants to learn about genetics and global biodiversity.  We will need help organizing materials and data and transcribing classroom enactments of the units.

 

By working in our lab group, you can gain valuable experience in:
- Working as a part of the team of NSF research grants;

- Helping organize and analyze qualitative and quantitative data;

- Helping test and edit classroom materials for middle school science curriculum;

- Transcribing classroom videos;

- Closely collaborating with faculty, researchers, graduate students, and other undergraduates  

- Helping the research team with other organizational and administrative tasks as needed.

 

Students can also work for credit on independent research projects.

 

We are looking for self-motivated and responsible students with an interest in education research. This position would be from summer 2017 and would have the potential to extend throughout the 2017-2018 academic year and the summer of 2018.  We are looking for a students who can commit to working approximately 10 hours per week.
