Student Communications Assistant

Are you interested in learning about campus operations while gaining experience in communications? Do you want to use your writing, web, and photographic skills to reach a wide and varied audience?

UW Facilities Planning & Management ( is seeking a Student Communications Assistant to help advance internal and external communications initiatives in a large, diverse organization.

At FP&M, you will:

  • Write clear, understandable copy for web and print publication
  • Create and update website content using a content management system.
  • Lay out and format flyers, brochures, newsletters, posters, presentations, and other materials
  • Take and edit photographs of departmental events on campus
  • Participate in the planning and execution of employee and campus customer events.
  • Provide back-up office support (reception, answer phones, copy and assemble materials, etc.)

The ideal candidate for this position has excellent writing, editing, and layout skills as well as experience with Wordpress, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office applications, common social media platforms, and photography and photo editing.

This is a student hourly position. 12+ hours per week while classes are in session, more if desired during breaks.
